Addition

Delicate Boy added a bit of commentary after his one-line meme that seems relevant. It's reminding me of my academic new year's resolutions (ala Clancy at Culture Cat) which, let's be honest, I haven't been great at keeping (shock). So, in that spirit, I'm adding the five things that I will try to institute to guarantee success:

1. Check my email only once before lunch
2. Work after dinner -- I tend to quit when I get home, which is a ton of time I spend not working. Mostly it's because Beej is off evenings now (and for the next six months), but that's not a good enough reason. I mean, it is, but it won't get the work done. And I don't really want to watch Cops with him. So I can plan for class and do some grading while he's watching Cops . . . again.
3. Stop acting as though a half an hour isn't enough time to do any work.
4. Spend less time socializing after lunch
5. Try to structure my time so that I can spend at least one full day (or the equivalent) doing nothing work related. I want to be able to go to trivia night, The Knot, watch t.v., go to a movie, etc without feeling guilty about the work I'm not doing. If I spend more of my time actually doing work, I should be able to take some (relatively) guilt-free time off.
