There's a West Wing episode where Leo tells Bartlett, "You're going to open your mouth and lift houses off the ground. Whole houses, clear off the ground." This blog used to be about writing a dissertation -- although I'm not sure it was ever really about that. But now it's about my life as a brand new assistant professor, still hoping to lift whole houses off the ground. It's academy meets Ab.

Crimp
Well, I've thrown my back out. How? I have no idea. It happens to me once every few years -- I wake up and can barely move. The timing, though, is pretty rotten. We're leaving for PA on Friday afternoon and I need to get the manuscript of the collection of student essays to the publisher before I go. Not cool.
