Ten weeks? Try ten days. Sorry about the typo in that earlier post. I'm back from WI and am fighting what looks like a wicked cold that my sister and brother both have. It's Zicam and water central over here. New TA orientation starts tomorrow morning at 9 but I have to be there at 8:30 to help finalize our plan. I'm looking forward to it -- I loved helping run orientation last year. Should be fun this year too.
I did a good deal of work while home: put together 90% of my teaching portfolio, wrote four drafts of my teaching philosophy, finalized drafts of my cvs, and wrote a few cover letter drafts. I'm happy about that. Happy, too, that I got to go swimming at my grandma's (aka "the cabin," aka "the lake house"). Most of the time I was home it was this weird plague of grasshoppers and they absolutely covered the surface of the water. It was seriously gross. But the last full day I was there, though, they had apparently all come onto land (or drowned, I'm not sure).
Today, I'm tying up any loose ends at home: unpacking, putting away laundry, doing dishes, etc. Also, catching up on the t.v. I tivoed while gone. Right now I've got Top Chef playing in the background . . . as I eat pizza rolls. Can you say "disappointing?"
