Don't know what we'll do

Especially for you academics out there, this might seem silly, but Brett Favre has been the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers since I was 15. I'm 31. In Green Bay, he is practically a god. And yesterday, he announced his retirement. I kid you not, Green Bay stations cancelled all programming to play highlights from his career. Citizens were asked to fly their flags at half-mast for a month. In Wisconsin, we take football seriously. And we have loved no one -- at least no one in recent memory -- like we love Brett Favre.

Whether you are a Packers fan or not, you have to admit that no one played the game like Favre. It's cliche at this point to say, but it's cliche because it's true, the man played most games with a sense of irreverent joy that was infectious. When Brett was smiling, all of Wisconsin was smiling with him. I don't know what we'll do next year. Aaron Rogers has got an arm, don't get me wrong, and I'm sure we'll come to love him too. That's what Packers fans do. But it just won't be the same without Brett Favre.

But he's so handsome! I want to know if he'll still be on tv.

Love the 3rd video-- I didn't know he was so funny.

yeah, he's kinda perfect. And I have high standards. I'm hoping he'll be a commentator, but Beej thinks he'll just go fishing.

Even though I live in New England, I love Brett Favre. And when he was tearing up with his speech, I was tearing up too. There's nothing sexier than seeing a grown man (as hot as Brett) get a little misty eyed.

Wisconsin has been going crazy the past few days. It's like a state-wide depression.

I'm telling you, K8, we take this stuff really seriously. REALLY seriously. We absolutely love him. It's hard to explain.

I'm from Indiana - we're the same way, but about basketball.
