Tide pens

Is it possible for those little portable Tide "pens" to go bad? I've had one in my bag for, well, maybe a year. I got some melted butter on my shirt today (mmmm, garlic herb bagel toasted, with butter) and used the Tide pen on it. It mostly got the butter out but smelled exactly -- and strongly -- like vomit. So now all I can smell is vomit Tide pen. I have no idea if anybody else can smell it and I hate to ask. awesome.
