Physical Therapy

I had my first physical therapy appointment yesterday morning. The therapist did a bunch of tests for range of motion, etc, trying to pinpoint the problem. She says that she's pretty certain it's rather severe bursitis and that I've basically strained all of the muscles in my right leg compensating for it. She seems surprised that I'm a) walking and b) not on major painkillers. This surprise, of course, makes me feel pretty bad-ass (and helps compensate for the "bursitis" diagnosis).

I couldn't really sleep last night because my hip hurt so much. I think it was all the motion yesterday at therapy. I'm not sure. But I'm still avoiding the vicadin, for whatever reason. I guess the anti-inflammatories are tearing my stomach up so badly that I'm hesitant to add something else to that brew.

The best part about physical therapy yesterday, though, was that for about 15 minutes or so I had to lie on my side with these electrodes on my hip. Apparently they're like nicotine patches, but with anti-inflammatories. Plus they send this electrical current through my hip. Weird. But, I was on a bed all by myself, unable to check my email, answer the phone, grade papers, or talk to anyone. I was completely comfortable and secluded for fifteen minutes. Fantastic.

Gah-- I'm sorry that you got bad news, but also impressed at your ability to make lemonade by seeing it as evidence of your badass-ness. You're like optimism and sunshine in one pacakge. :)

Seriously, though, here's to effective therapy.
