Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s)

I just sent off my proposal to the 2007 Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s) conference in Little Rock. I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to pull it off this year but luckily there was a week extension.

I'll be on the job market that fall, so I'm honestly little nervous about finding the time to travel to Arkansas, but Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s) is my favorite conference. Or it was. The last time I was there. I guess that's maybe not enough to base a "favorite" sort of opinion on, but I just felt at home there. Part of that, I suppose, was that it was in Houghton, MI last time, which is pretty close to home.

I love Houghton. Well, I love the UP in general, but there's something very comfortable for me about Hougton. I could definitely see us living there.

But I also love the area. Clearly feminism and rhetoric are two of my "things" ("hey, is that my thing?" for you ATHF fans out there) and I love the opportunity to just immerse myself in that. To sit and listen to brilliant women and men talk about feminism and rhetoric for a few days -- academically, there's not much better than that.

So hopefully I'll get accepted and will be able to head down to Little Rock for a few days and hang out with my people again.
