Reading reading reading

Ah, the life of a dissertator. I've been reading reading reading and tracking down more articles to read. It's exactly as glamorous as it sounds.

It's been a bit tough as of late with this rather persistent and, to be honest, relatively painful injury. The Doc now thinks it's a herniated disc in my back so I'm on these steroidal anti-inflammatories and painkillers (I'm only taking the painkillers at night, though, so that I'm, you know, AWAKE during the day. Seriously, how does House function like that?) which are both making me feel a little wonky. I'd like nothing more than to curl up on the futon (so good for my back, I'm sure) and watch The Sopranos (I'm only on the second season) or to reread Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Don't get me wrong, I actually like reading feminist rhetorical theory, but it doesn't quite have the same relaxing qualities as Harry Potter, you know? I've told my chair that I might need another week on the article draft. I'd love to get them both done (the lit review and the article) by the end of the month, but given the wonk-factor, it might get pushed slightly into August. But only slightly. No time to get off track, so on track I'll have to stay.

Right now, though, I'm going to make some dinner. Hope everyone had a lovely fourth!
