Job list

joblistjoblistjoblistjoblistjoblistjoblistjoblistjoblistjoblistjoblistjoblist

This is, of course, to say that the job list has been posted. The job list has been posted! It's a mixture of excitement and terror, a mad scramble followed by a realization that I've got some time here (only a few 10-1 deadlines) and fastest isn't always best. So I've applied to three jobs that had online post-your-c.v.-and-cover-letter type applications and will probably spend tomorrow researching three more that I plan to apply to.

I'm having organizational confusion, though. I started by organizing jobs alphabetically. But that didn't make any sense. So then I organized by deadline. That clearly made more sense. But there are some jobs that I REALLY want and those seem like they should come first on the list. But some of those have deadlines that are in mid-November, so it doesn't really make sense to have those before the ones that are at the beginning of October.

I've got sort of a hybrid system going that I think will work for me. We'll see, though.

Fascinating, no?

I wish I had something more exciting to tell you. Or even something a little less academic. But this is a little consuming right now.

I could tell you this: I went to dinner tonight with Tim and Laura to Taste of India and had some fabulous garlic naan and shrimp curry. So incredibly good. I love the people at Taste of India. My family thinks it's very funny that the picky eater from northern Wisconsin loves Indian food -- particularly Indian curry. I explain that it's not really that adventurous, but for northern WI, it's on the edge of crazy.

Just came over through you comment after mine at blogos. Hi! You are ahead of me. I can't think about customizing letters and sending out materials until after this week's bout with student papers. (clearly this hasn't deterred my online activities, though)

My friend Dennis B. was recently "officially" hired at New Hampshire - he had a VAP position before that. If you see him around, tell him Katy Southern said "Hi!"

I'd love to hear about your diss sometime - I'm very interested in women's rhetoric and writing. Will you be at CCCC?

Hi k8. I sent you an email response, but in case you didn't get it, I wanted to say that I'll probably be at CCCC but we could certainly diss-chat before then. What's your dissertation about?

Hey Ab!

Here goes the job search roller coaster! I can almost hear the clicks and clanks as the cars move slowly, slowly up that first hill. God, I just hate roller coasters.

I'd love to hear more about The List - which ads you're most excited about and any you plan to pass on. Probably best on phone/e-mail.

Speaking of roller-coasters... you should see the size of my belly - the Sprout has suddenly been getting huge since school started again! Hope to see you and Beej soon!
