There's a West Wing episode where Leo tells Bartlett, "You're going to open your mouth and lift houses off the ground. Whole houses, clear off the ground." This blog used to be about writing a dissertation -- although I'm not sure it was ever really about that. But now it's about my life as a brand new assistant professor, still hoping to lift whole houses off the ground. It's academy meets Ab.

International Dissertation Writing Month
Well, if I count my two footnotes, I'm at 5,000 words. If I don't count those footnotes (and Word isn't counting them), I'm at 4902. My goal for the day was 5,000 but I hit a natural stopping point and, to be honest, my back HURTS, so I'm done for the day. But I think I'll hit my 10,000 word goal by the end of the month and will, then, have if not a full chapter draft, at least something very close to it. That puts me at three out of four major chapters drafted. Not too shabby.
