There's a West Wing episode where Leo tells Bartlett, "You're going to open your mouth and lift houses off the ground. Whole houses, clear off the ground." This blog used to be about writing a dissertation -- although I'm not sure it was ever really about that. But now it's about my life as a brand new assistant professor, still hoping to lift whole houses off the ground. It's academy meets Ab.

Orientation
Tomorrow is the first day of six days of new GTA orientation. I helped run orientation at UNH for the last two years, but this is my first orientation at K-State. So, for the most part, I'll probably be an observer. I'm really excited to meet the new GTAs and feel a little more rooted in this program. Getting up at 7:00 tomorrow morning? That's less exciting.
